The private sector should give climate support

01.12.2010 - Proteccion del medio ambiente

A sub-committee of the United Nations suggests that the private sector participates in the financing of the climate protection costs of poorer countries. At the climate summit in Copenhagen, the industrial states promised the developing countries 100 billion Dollars each year.

The draft includes that between two and twenty-seven billion Dollars could be earned via a tax on financial transactions in foreign exchange trading. Another four to nine billion dollars might be racked up by constraints for the transportation. The aviation would account for two to three billion dollars. By cutting subventions for fossil fuels, three to eight billion dollars might be saved. Even emissions trading offers potential: If the industry has to pay for the right to emit climate damaging greenhouse gases, between eight and thirty-eight billion dollars could be generated.
