Intelligent power networks

10.03.2011 - Énergie

By intelligent power networks greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced. Additionally, these smart grids increase the network’s efficiency and the usage of renewable energies. This is one result of a survey by Frost and Sullivan.
Smart meters are an essential element of these intelligent networks. Intelligent electric meters are installed in residential buildings, office buildings and factories and connected to the power network. They improve the communication between all elements of the net; thus, these electric meters can be read from afar. To introduce this technology extensively, the consumers’ acceptance is vital. In many countries companies install smart meters and other elements important for smart grids in industrial buildings and private houses, without claiming a payment, to acquaint the customers with this technology.
