Collaboration promotes international climate protection
A new collaboration has been established between the BMU (the German Federal Ministry for the Environment) and DEG, a German investment and development company, to promote private investment in international climate protection projects in developing and newly industrializing countries.
Investors support projects for renewable energies, energy efficiency, and adjustment to climate change. The BMU is providing €2 million from the IKI (International Climate Protection Initiative) for this purpose, the funds being earmarked to promote new concepts. Demonstration projects for low-CO2, local energy supply also support energy transfer.
