Climate protection using traditional construction materials
DUH Managing Director Jürgen Resch said that the construction industry needed to develop cost-effective and energy-efficient structural shells in order to meet the EU's climate protection directives and that this was the only way to make expedient use of renewable energies and other cutting-edge technologies. He added that materials such as PLEXIGLAS® made an important contribution to heat insulation in particular.
Resch went on to say that plastics like PLEXIGLAS® had many properties that were useful for climate protection. These include translucency, weather resistance, low weight and a long service life. In addition, the material is very easy to machine and often shows better insulation values than classical glass. It is particularly suitable for skylights, roof and façade elements, enables high energy savings, makes for a better room climate and greater living comfort.
To actively support compliance with the legal regulations on energy saving and emission reduction in buildings, DUH initiated a corresponding project. In this context, it issued an appeal not just to promote new construction materials, but to refocus on proven materials as well.
