Drop in solar activity does not herald ice age
Scientists can draw the following conclusions from observing sunspots that indicate solar activity and radiation intensity: the sun is currently undergoing a state of the lowest activity for the longest time for almost a century. That gives rise to various speculations. A study conducted by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) shows that reduced solar activity will not stop the global rise in temperature. “It would be wrong to think that there will be another Little Ice Age if the sun really does enter a prolonged phase of low activity.” According to these findings, this would not make a difference of even 10 percent in the global warming caused by human activity.
