Climate protection goals of industrialized and developing countries

15.03.2010 - Environmental Protection

As agreed at the UN Climate Change Conference in December last year, 55 countries, divided in industrialized and developing nations, informed the UN of their national climate protection goals. According to these, they want to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by the year 2020. But the contributions made so far are not enough to fall below the established upper limit of 2 degrees of global warming. The aim is for all states to commit themselves in a legally binding manner to ambitious climate protection objectives.
