Protection Against the Sun
The skin is our largest sensory organ. It protects us from the cold, heat, germs and especially from intensive UV radiation. But its powers are limited. In the first year of its life, a child does not yet have any protection against UV light. This only works properly from the age of 16 to 18.
But sufficient UV protection is essential for both children and adults. Our skin never forgets a sunburn. Whereas most people used to shrug their shoulders when this was pointed out, the truth of this statement is now obvious, especially in view of the thinning of the ozone layer, which allows stronger UV radiation to hit the earth’s surface.
PLEXIGLAS® protects against dangerous sun rays because it absorbs UV light. People on playing grounds, at swimming pools, kindergartens, schools or bus stops can avoid dangerous radiation under a PLEXIGLAS® roof without a loss of sunlight. Unlike a canvas awning or parasol, the highly transparent material lets in daylight. It’s more fun working and playing in the light.
